Library Card release “Days of Clay” ft. Axender
Dutch post-punk band Library Card release their new single “Days of Clay” today. The track is a duet with Axender, the alter ego of Marnix Visscher (Korfbal, Price). Vocalist Lot van Teylingen explains: “‘Days of Clay’ is about longing for a time you didn’t experience — a reversed kind of yearning. We wanted to create a song that feels like receiving a postcard from a past you didn’t live, but that still feels familiar somehow.” The single is also available as a physical release: Paradiso Vinyl Club, the independent record label of Paradiso Amsterdam, presents the 7” vinyl single exclusively to its members. Following their debut Nothing, Interesting, this marks the band’s first physical release and a new chapter for one of the most exciting live acts to emerge from the Dutch and international post-punk scene. The vinyl includes “Days of Clay” and “Art School”, a previous single that has become a live staple during the band’s energetic shows. “Art School” — featuring Jeroen Reek (Iguana Death Cult) on trombone — feels like an auditory portrayal of what it’s like to study at an art academy: embodying and emphasizing the romanticized chaos that comes with trusting the process. Van Teylingen says: “It’s a farce, a maze, a never-ending prayer — but in the end, we absolutely laughed through our tears.” In recent months, Library Card have rapidly gained momentum. Performances at ESNS, Left of the Dial, SXSW, Best Kept Secret, Dour, Valkhof Festival, and an international tour through Belgium, Germany, Denmark, France, Austria, the UK, and the US have brought the band to an ever-growing audience.
